15 Great Ways To Lose Weight Fast

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

Want to lose weight fast? It’s easy to say goodbye to 10-20 pounds of unwanted fat with these easy diet tips. Just pay attention to what you eat and be sure to have good tasting, fresh and healthy food including snacks, fill up on vegetables and keep your taste buds happy with fruit.

No need to make sacrifices! Just follow these simple guidelines to lose your first 10 pounds, last 10 pounds or give your weight loss program a boost when it seems to have stuttered to a halt. This is a balanced and flexible plan that you can use for as long as you want.

1. Keep a note of everything that you eat and drink. You do not need to estimate calories. Just write down what it was that you had and the approximate quantity. You will find that being more aware of what you are eating helps you to plan healthy meals and snacks.

2. Halve your intake of all pure or added fats. This means using half as much butter or spread on your bread, toast, muffins and potatoes; half the usual amount of mayonnaise or sauce on your salad; and half the oil in the frypan every time.

3. Limit treats containing sugar to three times per week. This includes chocolate, ice cream, desserts, cake, pastries, cookies, etc.

4. Include a lower fat source of protein at most meals: chicken, fish, beans, cottage cheese, or low fat yogurt. Have eggs, nuts and red meat occasionally but not every day.  Also use soy protein shakes by Herbalife.  These are great tasting, highly nutritional meal that can cut your cravings, boost your protein intake (curbs hunger) and provides daily nutrition.

5. Plan at least one lunch and dinner every week without meat or cheese. Build those meals around whole grains, vegetables and beans to increase fiber and reduce fat.

6. Reduce the fat content in your milk products. If you are currently drinking whole milk, reduce to 2% fat. From 2% reduce to 1%. Choose lower fat cheese and yogurt. When you buy yogurt, also check that it does not contain sugar.

7. Have at least two servings of fruit every day. This can be for dessert or snacks. Choose fruit that is in season.

8. Drink water instead of sodas, juices, milky drinks or alcohol. Avoid diet soda – the sweet taste only encourages you to crave sugar. Hot water with a slice of lemon can be very refreshing in the morning.   Lemon water is wonderful for you and can provide great taste and help to your body. Importance of drinking water.

9. Include at least two servings of vegetables at lunch and dinner. If you are getting hungry, have more.

10. Eat slowly. The body is slow to register when you are full and it is easy to eat too much if you are racing through your meals.

11. Grated carrot makes a great snack. You will find that a grated carrot is much more filling than a whole carrot. Strange but true.

12. Use whole grains wherever possible. The fiber will give you a fuller feeling and also help your digestion.

13. Choose food that you can chew. Again this will increase your fiber intake, and the act of chewing will make you feel more satisfied too. This means eating fruit instead of drinking juice. If you have soup, make sure it is chunky.

14. Plan your meals and snacks ahead of time. Plan your shopping too – make a list of what you need and stick to it. If you just grab something when you are feeling hungry, you will probably choose high calorie food.

15. Always switch off the TV when you eat. That includes snacks as well as meals. Studies have proved that we eat larger portions in front of the TV, probably because we are much less aware of what we are eating. When you eat, only eat if you want to lose weight fast.

If you want a fast, easy and nutritional way to lose weight safe and naturally, have energy, lose fat not muscle, use the Herbalife products and program system.   It’s worked for 29 years for millions of people.  http://www.bodyshapeover.com

Losing Weight Naturally

Thursday, April 17th, 2008

A wise approach for natural weight loss is to ensure your
caloric intake meets your physical activity levels;
however, most ignore this recommendation. If it were that
simple, which it should be, most slimming companies would be
out of business; this obviously isn’t as easy as it sounds
because currently over a third of Americans are overweight.
There are many reasons why you would want to lose weight
once you have put it on, but what reason is strong enough to
actually encourage you to do it, good health or looks?

The hard thing for people to understand is it is easier to
maintain your natural weight than loose extra pounds once
you have put them on. Nevertheless weight maintenance is
something that has to be worked on and planned otherwise we
will put on extra pounds.

For some reason even when dieters who have become used to,
and enjoy, a low calorie diet, they eventually drift back to
old habits and start piling the pounds back on again. Extra
weight often results in health issues and can negatively
impact on one’s emotional state and self-esteem but all this
can be cured with a healthy, natural weight loss program.

The truth is there is a huge price to pay with your health
when you are overweight and in particular, clinically obese.
The annoying part is that natural weight maintenance is not
difficult to understand but overweight people choose to
ignore this.

Some people worry about what foods they will eat on a
natural weight loss program but it is just a case of having
a combination of, protein, carbohydrate and fiber. You have
probably had a meal like this in a restaurant; a baked or
jacket potato with fresh vegetables and some meat, as lean
as possible but it wouldn’t have gravy or butter on the
potato.

Unfortunately, dietary fat contains higher amounts of
calories than ordinary food which when consumed will just be
converted to body fat more readily. Don’t fall into the
fat-free trap where manufacturers keep coming out with
low-fat or fat-free versions of their best-selling foods
despite the fact that Americans are getting fatter anyway.

Whilst completely false, the perception is that you can
basically eat exactly what you want provided it is fat-free
but there are still calories in the food which can easily be
converted to body fat. Where this goes wrong is with
overweight people who think that if it’s fat free they can
eat more of it instead of eating a healthy snack.

Health experts say it would be better to try eating every
three to four hours, which may mean a nutritious low-fat
snack between lunch and dinner. Determination, will power
and belief should be aspects of your natural weight loss
program if you really want to look well and be healthy.

Drugs and Losing Weight

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

As the world’s population continues to increase, the problem
of obesity also increases; more worrying still is the number
of school-age children that are falling into the obese
category. Often extreme measures are used to control this
problem including surgery but others decide that dieting
combined with an increase in physical activity is
preferable. However, desperate people often make poor
decisions and decide to take weight loss drugs as they are
less expensive than surgery.

The drugs work by increasing the serotonin levels in the
brain, making it believe that the stomach is already full,
thereby, increasing the person’s metabolic rate. That was
all well and good until the point where more research had
concluded that there was an increased risk of heart valve
disease and as a consequence the drugs were withdrawn. Newer
drugs were developed and started to be prescribed by
physicians and dieticians, some of these drugs are currently
waiting for the Federal Drug Administration go ahead.

The chances are that if you asked enough people, someone
will say they have used them and been happy with the
results. It is a tempting proposition, to lose weight while
still maintaining the same diet; who would say no? The
weight loss drug manufacturers have spent a huge sum on
research but this cannot be compared to the amount spent by
consumers.

An individual wishing to buy weight control pills can do so
over-the-counter or have them prescribed by their doctor;
however there are still health risks associated with their
use. But they are not the only side effects and some can be
more harmful than others. These include heart attacks,
tremors, strokes, hallucinations and renal failure.

The best course of action before taking any type of pill is
to consult your doctor; here are many factors that could
contribute to any problems you experience and these do not
necessarily stop when you cease taking the pills. The side
effects experienced by users of weight loss pills can
include noticeable mood swings, hyper-activity, stomach
pains, insomnia, nightmares, severe irritability, extreme
fatigue, depression, nausea, vomiting and trembling.

Despite all the bad publicity, weight loss drugs do work but
they are more successful if they are used in conjunction
with a low calorie diet and regular exercise, preferably
using a properly worked out exercise regime. This type of
diet requires a balance of the food groups to ensure a
proper intake of vitamins, minerals and fiber, almost all of
which can be bought at your local supermarket but may
require a little preparation.

Exercise can be done in whatever form suits the individual
best but it should incorporate fat-burning exercises that
will burn up any excess calories. The most efficient
exercise should be regular and contain a mixture of
cardiovascular (walking, swimming etc.) and weight training
using machines to build muscle, burn off excess calories and
lose the extra pounds.

Keep in mind that these types of weight loss drugs can have
an addictive quality, whether they be prescribed by a doctor
or non prescription. Use common sence, being skinny
un-healthy and an emotional wreck is not better than being a
little hefty, but healthy and feeling great!
